The Art of Playing 🌈

When we are children, play comes naturally.

We explore, imagine, create and transform the world around us. A stick becomes a magic wand, a forest becomes an adventure, and a simple game becomes a way of connecting with others.

Through play, children learn about themselves and the world around them. They develop confidence, creativity, problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate relationships. Play allows them to experiment, make mistakes, try again and discover what they are capable of.

But somewhere along the way, many of us begin to leave play behind.

We are encouraged to become more serious, more productive, more focused on outcomes. We forget the freedom of exploring simply because we are curious. We forget that creativity is not something reserved for artists, musicians or “naturally creative” people — it is something that lives within all of us.

Perhaps play is not something we grow out of. Perhaps it is something we grow through.

As adults, moments of play can help us reconnect with curiosity, imagination and presence. They remind us that learning does not always need to be measured, and that trying something new does not require us to be perfect.

This is one of the reasons I love combining yoga, balance practices, circus skills, creativity and time in nature. These experiences create opportunities to explore without fear of getting things wrong. They invite us to laugh, adapt, listen and discover new possibilities.

A balance line becomes more than a physical challenge. A yoga pose becomes more than a shape. A rhythm, a story or a creative activity becomes a chance to connect with ourselves and each other.

The name Indradhanush means rainbow — a beautiful reminder that every person brings their own unique colour to the world. When those colours come together, something new and wonderful can emerge.

Maybe growing up does not mean leaving play behind.

Maybe it means remembering how to play again.
